Description:

Size/Shape Aggressive low creeper. Stems root at the nodes. It has slender creeping stems, typically 1 to 4 dm long (3.9 - 15.7 in.) that give rise to small erect stems.
Leaves Opposite, nearly round in outline or sometimes kidney-shaped, on long petioles. Margins have large rounded teeth and leaf veins arise from the same point.
Flowers Typically occur in clusters of 3 in the area between the stem and petiole (leaf axils). Flowers are blue-violet, 3/8 to 5/16 inch long.
Blooming Season One of the first to bloom in the spring. March to May. March to July.
Fragrance Balsamic leaves. A strong aromatic scent. The aroma of this plant is very refreshing and brings me happy memories of walking through fields where it grew wild underfoot, releasing it's fragrance when walked on.
Use Makes an excellent cooling tea, known as "Gill tea". Don't use too frequently.

Propagation Cuttings. Seeds. Seed in the spring.
Soil All types of soils. Prefers a heavy soil. Well drained.
Water Moist. Must remain damp throughout the year. This plant prefers damp habitats.
Light Shady. It prefers a somewhat shaded location. Sun to shade. This plant prefers shady habitats, but will tolerate full sun. Dappled shade.
Climate Outside perennial.
