Giant Elephant's Ear

Botanical Name: Alocasia odora
Plant Family: Araceae

I got the seeds for these from Whatcom Seed Company. I'll post pics as they sprout and grow. They do well without direct sun, so I'm going to try them out at and around my desk at work.

The fragrance of the flowers is said to be nice. However it is an aroid and pollinated by flies, so maybe I'll like it and maybe I won't. It's a night scented flower, so I might have to cut the flowers off at work if anyone on the night shift doesn't like it. The one I'll be growing at home though, I will let flower, and if I like it it can stay. If I hate the smell, I'll probably give it away.

Mainly for this one, my goal is to have a dramatic desk decoration plant, so it's fragrance abilities are secondary, unless I really like the fragrance - then it will become a cherished houseplant too.
