All of these patterns are made from a set of
tiny animations that I call my ani-marbles. You can
download them here and use them freely. There are 12 ani-marble
.gifs and also a black spacer and a transparent spacer. You don't
have to put up a link to my site or anything like that if you use
them.
Make them by placing the .gifs in a borderless table. You can
either place them 1 cell per gif or set the table to be a minimum
pixel width of 16 x the number of gifs across. Don't put them
next to each other in long rows without setting a minimum width,
or they will wrap in browsers that are sized smaller than the
table. Make your pattern with up to 12 separate colours, and use
a different animarble.gif for each colour. The black and
transparent-spacer.gifs come in handy for transparent areas or as
temporary spacer to keep in the table cells, so they hold their
shape while putting in the different gifs (good if your working
in a visual environment like Frontpage Express).
Here's the new minimarbles, in 2 new sizes.
